One of Major League Soccer’s newest clubs, Nashville SC, played their inaugural match at their new home GEODIS Park on May 1st, 2022. Nashville came into the MLS in 2020 and played all of their home matches at Nissan Stadium, which is home to the Tennessee Titans, while their shiny new stadium was being built. Upon completion, GEODIS Park became the largest soccer specific stadium in the USA and Canada, with a capacity of 30,000. GEODIS Park sits on the Nashville Fairgrounds, which is in the middle of a large re-development plan that includes a new Expo event space, new mixed-use retail and residential buildings and upgrades to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway capable of hosting NASCAR Cup Series races. Inside the stadium fans, have access to six different lounges, two dozen box suites, and a dedicated gate for the supporters’ group to march through on match days. The stadium was constructed to keep fans right on top of the action on the pitch, with only 150 feet of space separating the last row of seats and the touchline. The roof of the stadium also covers every section and concourses are 65 feet wide to provide an escape from the Nashville heat. If you’re looking for even more comfort, the west side of the stadium has plenty of options with 27 luxury suites and 4 club areas. Each club offers unique experiences such as a Nashville Music themed club and sports-themed club boasting sports memorabilia and a wall of TVs broadcasting other live sports. GEODIS Park is certainly deserving of holding the honor of being the largest soccer stadium in American soccer history, and it has set the bar for other MLS clubs to strive for when building soccer specific stadiums.
